On 5th October 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 18th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme at an event in Washim, Maharashtra. Over 9.4 crore farmers across the country will receive more than ₹20,000 crore in direct financial aid, transferred directly into their bank accounts.

Farmers to Join the Event from 5 Lakh Service Centres:

The event will be graced by prominent dignitaries, including the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, Union Agriculture Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde. Approximately 2.5 crore farmers are expected to participate in the event via webcast, connecting through 732 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), over 1 lakh Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, and 5 lakh Common Service Centres across the country.

18th Instalment to Benefit Over 91 Lakh Farmers in Maharashtra:

Launched on 24th February 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides ₹6,000 annually to landholding farmers in three equal instalments. With the release of this 18th instalment, the scheme has now disbursed over ₹3.45 lakh crore, benefiting more than 11 crore farmers nationwide. In Maharashtra alone, nearly ₹32,000 crore has been distributed to 1.20 crore farmers over 17 instalments, making it the second-highest recipient among all states. In this upcoming instalment, more than 91.51 lakh farmers in Maharashtra will receive over ₹1,900 crore.

5th Instalment of Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana:

Alongside the PM-KISAN instalment, Prime Minister Modi will also release an additional ₹2,000 crore under the 5th instalment of the Namo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana, providing further financial support to farmers across Maharashtra.

7,516 Projects under Agriculture Infrastructure Fund to be Dedicated:

Additionally, the Prime Minister will dedicate 7,516 completed projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) to the nation. In the past 100 days, over 10,066 agriculture infrastructure projects have been sanctioned across India, with a total sanction amount of ₹6,541 crore. Of these, 7,516 projects worth ₹1,929 crore, including 35 Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) projects, have been successfully completed. These projects will significantly enhance agricultural infrastructure, improving storage, processing, and logistics facilities.

Dedication of 9,200 FPOs to the Nation: Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate more than 9,200 FPOs (Farmer Producer Organisations) to the nation. These FPOs, formed under the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) for the Promotion of FPOs, have a combined annual turnover exceeding ₹1,300 crore. They directly benefit over 24 lakh farmers, including women and farmers from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, empowering them with collective bargaining and improved access to markets.
