Except for some parts of Uttar Pradesh, most districts have experienced unusual rainfall this year, so the officials have been directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to prioritize addressing the requirements of the farmers.
He emphasized that ensuring water reaches the fields of all farmers in the state, regardless of the circumstances, is a top priority for the government. For this, arrangements should be made to divert water from rivers to canals.
The Chief Minister explicitly stated that special attention should be given to ensure water reaches the tail of the canals in all circumstances. Police patrolling should be carried out to protect the canals and ensure that no one cuts them.
The welfare of the farmers, who are the food providers of the state, is our utmost priority, and therefore, a survey of the impact of light rain should be conducted to make an accurate assessment.
He also stressed the need to clean up the water bodies and encourage farmers to sow alternative crops in view of the effects of light rainfall. CM Yogi instructed to ensure adequate power supply to hand pumps and canal pumps. He further directed to prepare a seasonal report on the effects of light rainfall and send it to the central government, as well as encourage private tube well operators to adopt rainwater harvesting.
