The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, in collaboration with NABARD, has launched a unique scheme aimed at bringing better farming methods to every farmer across the country. This initiative also provides start-up training to graduates in agriculture or related fields such as horticulture, sericulture, veterinary sciences, forestry, dairy, poultry farming, and fisheries. Those who complete the training can apply for special start-up loans.
Agri Clinic is a government scheme facilitated by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development) that provides loans. After applying for this scheme, there is a 45-day training period, after which you can start your business. This opportunity allows agriculture graduates or postgraduates to avail loans of up to 10 lakhs. The aim of the scheme is to leverage the expertise of the large pool of agricultural graduates. Whether you are a fresh graduate or currently employed, you can set up your own Agri Clinic or Agri Business Centre.
Agri Business Centres will provide paid services to enhance agricultural production and farmers' income. These centres will advise farmers on crop selection, best farming practices, post-harvest value-added options, essential agricultural information (including Internet-based weather forecasts), price trends, market news, risk mitigation, crop insurance, credit, input access, and critical sanitary and phytosanitary considerations.
As part of this nationwide initiative, specialized training will be provided to agriculture graduates interested in setting up such centres. The training is free of cost and includes a 45-day course offered by select institutions across the country. Initiated by SFAC and coordinated by MANAGE, the course includes modules on entrepreneurship and business management as well as skill improvement in your chosen areas of activity.
