Madhya Pradesh government's gift to the farmers facing the weather: Time period for paying interest on Kharif crop extended, recovery from farmers will be postponed

The Madhya Pradesh government has made a significant decision for the benefit of distressed farmers affected by adverse weather conditions. Under this decision, the recovery of loans from farmers will be postponed. Additionally, the deadline for repaying the interest on Kharif crops has been extended until April 30. This decision was taken based on the requests made by the farmers, and it is lauded by the BJP Kisan Morcha's State President, Darshan Singh Choudhary. He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel for this decision. It has generated considerable enthusiasm among the state's farmers, particularly those with short-term crop loans from cooperative societies.

The state government's decision will result in an additional burden of 60 crores, which will be borne by the administration. Authorities are working on the procedural aspects of the crop insurance scheme for affected farmers to ensure that farmers are provided with the scheme's benefits. To ensure that farmers are benefiting from the scheme, verification of the cases and the preparation of the procedural aspects of the crop insurance scheme have also been initiated.

Furthermore, the decision has been taken to postpone the recovery from affected farmers, and the state government will provide interest on it. This will enable farmers to obtain loans for the next crop at a zero percent interest rate. This decision aims to provide relief to the farmers who have been adversely affected by unseasonal rains and hailstorms in the state. The state government will provide a relief amount of 32,000 rupees per hectare to farmers. It will also offer relief amounts ranging from 25% to 35% in different scenarios and provide full relief for losses exceeding 50%.
