Andhra Pradesh Farmers Receive Crop Insurance Compensation, 1,117 Crocres Distributed among 10 Lakh Farmers Providing significant relief to the farmers of Andhra Pradesh, the state government has distributed a substantial amount of crop insurance compensation. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has disbursed ₹1,117 crores as crop insurance compensation to over 10 lakh farmers in the state. This amount has been provided for the Kharif season of 2022.
In fact, the occasion coincided with the birth anniversary of the late Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, which is celebrated as "Rythu Dinotsavam" (Farmers' Day). On this occasion, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy distributed the amount of crop insurance compensation to the farmers. The Chief Minister released the funds in a public meeting under the Dr. YSR Free Crop Insurance Scheme in Kalyandurg of Anantapuram district.
He also inaugurated the multipurpose facility centers (MPCs) and 52 Dr. YSR Agriculture Testing Laboratories, which have been set up at a cost of ₹70 crores. With this, the number of such testing laboratories in the state has increased to 127.
While discussing crop insurance, Reddy stated that this compensation is provided to eligible farmers who suffered losses during the previous Kharif season. He mentioned that, unlike other states, farmers in Andhra Pradesh do not need to pay even a single rupee towards crop insurance because the state government is covering the entire amount.
According to Reddy, in the last four years, more than 54 lakh farmers have received ₹7,802 crores under this scheme. Reddy also announced some upcoming agricultural programs initiated by the government, including soil testing, good agricultural practices, nano fertilizers, drones, and more.
