There is good news for the farming community in Bihar. To make their farming work easier, the Bihar government has started a scheme to provide subsidies to farmers for buying agricultural machinery. This assistance is being provided under the Bihar State Scheme for Agricultural Mechanization, by the Department of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare in Bihar. Through this scheme, subsidies are being given to Bihar farmers for the purchase of not just one or two, but 90 types of agricultural machinery. This subsidy is being given to farmers ranging from a minimum of 40% to a maximum of 75% of the cost of agricultural machinery. For farmers belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Extremely Backward Classes, this subsidy ranges from 50% to 80%.

In fact, farmers will have to apply online to avail the assistance provided under the agricultural mechanization scheme by the Bihar government. The last date for application is December 31, 2022. The complete list of 90 types of agricultural machinery and their funding amount is available on the departmental website and OFMAS Portal. If any farmer wants to avail the subsidy on agricultural machinery, they will have to apply online on the official website of the Department of Agriculture, www.farmech.bih.nic.inBefore applying on OFMAS, farmers need to register on the DBTPortal of the former Agriculture Department of Bihar. Applications without a Registration No. will not be accepted on OFMAS. Provision has been made for subsidy for farmers who purchase listed machinery from listed vendors on OFMAS Portal. Under this scheme, heavy subsidies are being provided on 21 machinery for Crop Residue Management, 9 machinery for line sowing, 10 agricultural machinery for post-harvest and horticulture, and 50 other agricultural machinery. Under the scheme, the highest subsidy of up to 2 lakh rupees is being given on the Reaper Cum Binder (Automatic) four-wheeler. For Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Extremely Backward Class farmers, this amount is up to 2.5 lakh rupees.
