Approval for Garib Kalyan Mission to Make the State Poverty-Free, Decision to Continue Machhua Samriddhi Yojana Till 2025-26

A meeting of the Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, was held to discuss key initiatives for the state's development. In a significant decision, the council approved the implementation of the Garib Kalyan Mission, aiming to make the state poverty-free by 2028. This mission focuses on the economic upliftment of poor and underprivileged sections, ensuring their income reaches a sustainable level. It will be jointly implemented by the Panchayat & Rural Development Department and the Urban Administration & Development Department, in collaboration with other relevant departments.

Key Components of Garib Kalyan Mission:

  1. Improvement in the Multi-Dimensional Poverty Index
  2. Strengthening Livelihood Opportunities
  3. Empowerment of Existing Organizations

Under this mission, special attention will be given to improving women and child nutrition, reducing infant mortality rates, enhancing maternal health, ensuring access to secondary education, increasing school attendance, promoting sanitation, providing clean drinking water, expanding electricity connections, constructing houses, and fostering financial inclusion.

Approval for Solar Rooftop Installations in Government Buildings:

  1. The Council of Ministers has approved the installation of solar rooftop systems in government buildings under the PM Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme. The project will be executed in mission mode and completed by 2025-26.
  2.  Solar power plants will be installed in government buildings with a capacity of 20 kW or more, using either the RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company) model or the CAPEX (Capital Expenditure) mode, through Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited.
  3.  A State-Level Coordination Committee and District-Level Committees will oversee the implementation of the project. All government departments have been directed to prepare action plans for setting up solar power plants on their buildings and submit them to the state coordination committee.
  4. This initiative will position Madhya Pradesh as a leading state in solar energy production.

Decision to Continue Mukhyamantri Machhua Samriddhi Yojana Until 2025-26:

The Council of Ministers has decided to extend the Mukhyamantri Machhua Samriddhi Yojana for the next two years, 2024-25 and 2025-26.

Key Features of the Scheme

  1. Promotion of fish seed production and aquaculture in ponds
  2. Development of shrimp farming
  3. Training programs for fish farmers
  4. Interest subsidy on Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) for fishermen
  5. Establishment of Smart Fish Parlors
  6. Development of an Integrated Information System
  7. Conservation of Mahseer, the state’s fish, with an allocation of ₹100 crore
