In 2023, International Millet Year is being celebrated. Keeping this in mind, several plans are being implemented at both the central and state levels for the benefit of farmers. The government is providing subsidies for coarse grain seeds. In this context, the Rajasthan government has also made a plan for distributing hybrid pearl millet seeds. Eight lakh farmers in the state will receive pearl millet seeds under this scheme. The state government has announced an expenditure of 16 crore rupees for this plan.
Expenditure on the Scheme: 16 Crore Rupees According to media reports, the state government will spend 10 crore rupees from the Farmer Welfare Fund and 6 crore rupees from the National Food Security Mission and Nutri Cereals for the distribution of hybrid pearl millet seeds. This plan will include farmers from low-yield districts. Farmers in the following districts of Rajasthan will benefit from the Rajasthan Millet Promotion Scheme: Ajmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Churu, Hanumangarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Pali, Sikar, Sirohi, and Tonk.
Government's Preparations The government is making strong arrangements to ensure that hybrid pearl millet seeds reach the farmers properly. Meanwhile, the government will keep a strict watch on the black market. Any vendor or farmer involved in such activities will face strict action.
