Big Support for Dairy Farmers in Madhya Pradesh: New Agreement to Boost Milk Production

The Madhya Pradesh government is making a significant effort to increase the income of dairy farmers and boost milk production. On February 25, a collaboration agreement will be signed in Bhopal between the MP State Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited, state dairy unions, and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), with Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in attendance.

Dairy Farmers’ Income to Double:

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that this agreement will last for five years and can be extended if needed. Under this plan:

1. A milk collection center will be set up in every village panchayat.
2. The number of dairy cooperative societies will increase from 6,000 to 9,000.
3. Milk processing capacity will grow from 18 lakh liters per day to 30 lakh liters per day.
4. Milk procurement will increase from 10.5 lakh kg per day to 20 lakh kg per day.

Major Investment in Dairy Infrastructure:

The White Revolution Mission, the government will invest ₹2,500 crore in every district to:

1. Install milk coolers,
2. Set up mini dairy plants,
3. Expand chilling centers.

This will ensure farmers get fair prices for their milk and improve their earnings.

With support from NDDB:

1. The number of dairy cooperative societies will rise from 1,390 to 2,590.
2. Milk procurement will grow from 1.3 lakh kg per day to 3.7 lakh kg per day.
3. A total investment of ₹1,500 crore will be made over the next five years.

Direct Benefits to Dairy Farmers: According to Chief Minister Yadav, this initiative will increase the total annual income of dairy farmers from ₹1,700 crore to ₹3,500 crore. This agreement will not only benefit farmers but also strengthen the dairy industry in Madhya Pradesh.
