The Papaya Development Scheme under the Chief Minister Horticulture Mission aims to promote papaya cultivation across all districts of the bihar state. This scheme provides assistance to farmers for papaya farming and empowers them economically.
Scheme Benefits: The benefits of the scheme are available for a minimum of 0.25 acres (0.1 hectares) and a maximum of 10 acres (4 hectares). This ensures that both small and large farmers can take advantage of the scheme.
The planting material will be supplied from the Center of Excellence, Desari, Vaishali, and the plug-type nurseries in Katihar and Bhojpur districts. This will ensure that farmers receive high-quality planting material.
Grant Amount: Under this scheme, the grant amount for papaya cultivation is ₹33,750 per hectare in the first year and ₹11,250 in the second year. This grant will encourage farmers to invest in papaya farming.
Both tenant farmers, based on land documents, and non-tenant farmers, based on a lease agreement, can benefit from this scheme.
Beneficiary Selection: Beneficiaries will be selected with 78.56% from the general category, 20% from scheduled castes, and 1.44% from scheduled tribes. Additionally, 30% participation by women in each category will be ensured.
The grant will be paid as per the rules through DBT under CFMS, ensuring a transparent and smooth process and giving farmers full benefit of their rights.
