A New Initiative by the Bihar Government Good news for the residents of Bihar, The Bihar government has initiated a new scheme called the Bihar Rooftop Gardening Scheme. This scheme provides a golden opportunity for the citizens of Bihar to do gardening on their rooftops. Under this scheme, the Bihar government will provide grants so that interested citizens can plant various types of plants on their rooftops. This grant will assist them in purchasing and planting fruit, vegetable, and flower plants.

Financial Assistance under the Bihar Rooftop Gardening Scheme:

The Bihar government will provide financial assistance for this scheme. Under this scheme, there are different plans for rooftop gardening.

1. Farming Bed Scheme: In this scheme, the cost of each unit (300 square feet) is Rs. 50,000, out of which 75%, i.e., Rs. 37,500, will be subsidized.
2. Planter Scheme: In this scheme, the cost per unit is Rs. 10,000, out of which 75%, i.e., Rs. 7,500, will be subsidized.

Benefits of the Rooftop Gardening Scheme:

1. Under this scheme, a person can benefit according to the condition of their house. In the Farming Bed Scheme, a person can benefit up to 2 units depending on the condition of their house, and for apartments and educational or other institutions, a maximum of 5 units can be benefited. Whereas the Planter Scheme will not be available for institutions.
2. To be eligible for this scheme, the applicant must have a minimum of 300 square feet of empty space on the rooftop of their house or flat.
3. The benefit of this scheme will be provided in urban areas of Patna Sadar, Danapur, Phulwari, Khagaul, Bhagalpur, Gaya, and Muzaffarpur districts.
4. In this scheme, 78.60% will be allocated to the general category, 20% to the scheduled caste, and 1.40% to the scheduled tribes. Women will also be given 30% priority.
