Chandigarh Rain Warning, Cold Wind in Haryana Punjab and Uttar Pradesh Today 12 January 2024

Weather system and upcoming 5-day forecasts and warnings A western disturbance has been observed as a trough in the mid-tropospheric westerly winds, approximately around an estimated latitude of 32°N and longitude 55°E north of the line. Under its influence, light rain/snow is expected in various locations of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on January 12 and 13, with Himachal Pradesh expecting the same on January 12.
A new western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from January 16, 2024. Under its influence, light rain/snow is anticipated in various locations of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad on January 16 and 17, with Himachal Pradesh expecting the same on January 17 and 18, and Uttarakhand on January 17 and 18.
Dense Fog and Cold Day Warning:
- Dense fog is likely to prevail for several hours during the night/morning of January 12 and 13 in many parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, followed by isolated areas in the next 3 days.
- Some parts of Uttar Pradesh may experience dense to very dense fog for a few hours during the night/morning of January 12 and 13, followed by isolated areas in the next 3 days.
- Very dense fog is likely in isolated areas of Uttarakhand during the morning hours for the next 2-3 days from January 12 to 15; isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh, western West Bengal, and Sikkim, northern parts of Madhya Pradesh on January 12; Jammu division on January 12; western Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha between January 12 and 14; eastern Rajasthan on January 13 and 14; and isolated areas in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Tripura from January 12 to 15.
Temperature forecast and cold weather warning:
- Over the next 2-3 days, a gradual drop of 2-3°C in minimum temperatures is likely in many parts of central and eastern India, with no significant changes thereafter.
- No significant changes in minimum temperatures are expected in many parts of northern India over the next 5 days.
- Isolated areas in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi may experience cold weather from January 12 and 13, continuing in isolated areas until January 14, 2024.
- Isolated areas in Rajasthan on January 12; Uttar Pradesh on January 12 and 13; and Bihar until January 14 may experience cold weather.
- Ground frost is expected in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana on January 12 and 13, 2024.
