Farmers in Rajasthan face numerous challenges, one of the major issues being the inadequate price for milk. This has led to a significant decline in dairy farming and a reduction in the state's milk production capacity. To address this issue, the state government has launched the 'Rajasthan Chief Minister's Dairy Producer Assistance Scheme.
This scheme, the state government will provide a subsidy of ₹5 per liter of milk to all beneficiary dairy farmers. To avail this subsidy, beneficiaries must deliver their milk to the nearest state cooperative union. To ensure that everyone in the state can benefit from the Chief Minister's Dairy Producer Assistance Scheme, the government will open 10,000 dairy stores across Rajasthan. These stores will also create new job opportunities, benefiting the state's unemployed population. Farmers do not need to apply separately for this scheme; they can simply sell their milk at the nearest cooperative dairy producer center to benefit from the scheme.
Since its implementation in 2019, over 400,000 dairy farmers have benefited from the scheme. The primary goals of the scheme are to address the milk production deficit in the state, encourage local residents to engage in dairy farming, and ensure they receive fair prices for their milk. Initially, the government provided a ₹2 per liter subsidy, which has now been increased to ₹5.
