Weather Update Today

Madhya Pradesh has experienced a strong monsoon this year, with the state recording 12% more rainfall than average totaling 1061.72 mm so far. More than 25 districts have reported between 5% to 100% higher rainfall than normal. However, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has ruled out the possibility of heavy rainfall for the next three days. On September 20, 21, and 22, clear skies and sunshine are expected across the state.

Weather Update for Today:

According to the IMD, light rain and thunderstorms may occur today in districts like Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara, Anuppur, Dindori, Mandla, Betul, Pandhurna, Burhanpur, Khargone, Mauganj, Sidhi, Shahdol, and Umaria. Meanwhile, cities such as Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Ujjain, and Jabalpur, along with other parts of the state, will experience sunny weather.

Rain Alert for September 23:

The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for September 23 in Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara, Betul, Dindori, and Umaria districts. Additionally, heavy rains are expected in Gwalior, Bhind, Ashoknagar, Guna, Niwari, Shivpuri, Sheopur, Morena, Neemuch, Mandsaur, and Agar-Malwa. Thunderstorms and light rain are likely in other districts, including Bhopal weather, Indore, and Ujjain.

Why No Rain for the Next Three Days:

Meteorologist H.S. Pandey explained that the low-pressure area and monsoon trough over the region have weakened, leading to a break from heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh for the next three days. However, a new weather system is expected to form by September 23, bringing rainfall to the eastern parts of the state.

Highest Rainfall in Some Districts:

Mandla district has recorded the highest rainfall in Madhya Pradesh this year, with 1453 mm so far. Other districts with significant rainfall include Seoni (1375.9 mm), Sheopur (1320 mm), Niwari (1289 mm), Sagar (1279 mm), Sidhi (1268 mm), Rajgarh (1236 mm), Dindori (1229 mm), Raisen (1216 mm), and Chhindwara (1213 mm). Bhopal has recorded 1282 mm, Jabalpur 1117 mm, and Gwalior 1136 mm of rainfall.

While Madhya Pradesh has seen robust monsoon activity this year, the state will enjoy clear skies for the next few days before rains return later in the week.
