Heatwaves and Lightning Strikes
Heatwaves and Lightning Strikes

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has conducted a high-level meeting to address the dangers of heatwaves and lightning strikes. He has directed officials to ensure timely alerts for farmers and rural communities to prevent loss of life and property.

Key Measures for Farmers:

  1. Early Warning System: Every district will have an early warning system to inform farmers in advance about heatwaves and lightning risks.
  2. Accountability of Village Heads: Village heads and local officials will be responsible for warning farmers and taking preventive measures.
  3. Lightning Protection: High-risk districts like Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, and Ghazipur will receive alerts three hours before potential lightning strikes.

Protection of Crops and Livestock:

  1. Farmers are advised to prepare in advance by using shade nets and ensuring proper irrigation.
  2. Livestock should be kept in shaded areas with adequate water supply.
  3. Patrolling will be increased to prevent fires in fields and forests.

How Will Farmers Receive Alerts?

  • Alerts will be sent through mobile SMS and loudspeakers in rural areas.
  • Awareness campaigns via digital displays, hoardings, and other media will provide necessary information.

As temperatures continue to rise, farmers must stay vigilant. The government has officially declared heatwaves a disaster and is taking all possible measures to minimize damage.
