The weather across the country is displaying varied patterns. While North India is experiencing a slight chill, heavy snowfall continues in the hilly states. In Delhi-NCR, cold winds over the past two days have brought a hint of winter back, offering a pleasant experience. On the other hand, several states in South India are witnessing a rapid rise in temperatures, marking the beginning of scorching summer conditions.
The past few days in Delhi-NCR have been pleasant due to cold winds, leading to a noticeable drop in both day and night temperatures. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at approximately 25°C, which is 2.4 degrees below normal, giving a slight wintery feel.
According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are expected to rise starting Thursday. Bright sunshine will bring daytime temperatures up to 28-29°C, while nighttime temperatures may hover around 13°C. Between March 7 and 11, partly cloudy skies are expected, with a western disturbance likely to impact hilly regions on March 9.
The weather in Uttar Pradesh has also changed, with cool winds bringing a slight chill, especially in the mornings and evenings. On Wednesday, Lucknow recorded a minimum temperature of 12.5°C and a maximum of 25.9°C.
Heavy Snowfall in Himachal and Kashmir, Hills Covered in White:
The higher reaches of Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh continue to witness heavy snowfall, significantly dropping temperatures. Popular tourist destinations like Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg, Kokernag, and Kupwara have received fresh snowfall, intensifying the cold wave. Srinagar and surrounding areas have also recorded intermittent rainfall in the past 24 hours. In Himachal Pradesh, Manali is witnessing heavy snowfall, attracting a surge of tourists. The snowfall at the beginning of March is expected to boost local tourism, benefiting businesses in the region.
