Cold wave warning in Delhi

While several northern states are yet to experience severe winter chills, southern states continue to feel the impact of Cyclone Fengal. The IMD has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall in Kerala, Mahe, and Lakshadweep on December 4. In the coming days, a dip in temperatures is expected across various states in North India.
Delhi weather update:
Delhi is yet to witness biting cold, and foggy conditions remain less intense. According to the IMD, the capital’s minimum temperature may drop to 9–10°C by the weekend, increasing the chill factor. Throughout the week, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to hover between 24°C and 26°C.
Nationwide 4-Day Weather Forecast:
- December 4: Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in isolated areas of Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema. Squally weather with wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, is likely over the Lakshadweep area, the adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, and southern parts of the east-central Arabian Sea. Fishermen are advised to avoid venturing into these areas.
- December 5: Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema.
- December 6: Thunderstorms with lightning are expected over parts of Madhya Maharashtra and Coastal Karnataka. Squally weather with winds of 35–45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, is likely over the central south Arabian Sea and adjoining central Arabian Sea areas. Fishermen should avoid these regions.
- December 7: Thunderstorms with lightning are likely in isolated areas of Coastal Karnataka. Squally weather with wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting to 55 kmph, is expected over the southwest Arabian Sea and adjoining areas. Fishermen are advised to stay clear of these waters.
Delhi AQI Report: According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi recorded an average AQI of 268 (poor) yesterday. However, there has been a slight decline in AQI levels over the past few days, offering some respite to the city’s residents. In other parts of North India, heavy smog forced commuters to drive with headlights during the day.
