Brazil has commenced its international cotton promotion campaign for the 2024-25 fiscal year in India, with the *Cotton Brazil Outlook* seminar taking place today, September 13th, in New Delhi. This event targets key figures in the Indian textile industry, including business leaders, investors, and government officials.

Strengthening Brazil-India Ties Through Cotton:

Organized by *Cotton Brazil*, the seminar aims to promote Brazilian cotton in the Indian market, which is the world’s second-largest consumer of cotton. Supported by Abrapa, ApexBrasil, and Anea, the event is designed to enhance trade relations between Brazil and India.

Highlighting the Quality and Sustainability of Brazilian Cotton:

A major goal of the seminar is to showcase the benefits of Brazilian cotton to the Indian textile sector, emphasizing its high quality and competitive pricing. Alexandre Schenkel, president of Abrapa, highlighted Brazil’s commitment to sustainability, noting that over 80% of Brazilian cotton is socio-environmentally certified and fully traceable.

Brazil Becomes the World’s Largest Cotton Exporter:

The 2023-24 fiscal year, Brazil surpassed the United States to become the world's largest cotton exporter, producing 37% of the global supply of Better Cotton-certified cotton. This achievement has bolstered Brazil’s reputation in the global cotton market.

Limited Market Share in India: Despite these global successes, Brazilian cotton accounts for only 5% of the Indian market. Imports during the 2023-24 cycle totaled 8,090 tonnes, a significant decrease from previous years, with the highest trade volume of 34,100 tonnes recorded in the 2001-02 cycle.

Outlook for 2024-25 and Future of Brazil-India Cotton Trade: The *Cotton Brazil Outlook* seminar will discuss the progress of Brazil’s cotton crop for the 2024-25 season, export projections, and market trends. Key speakers, including Abrapa executives and Anea president Miguel Faus, will provide insights into the future of the Brazil-India cotton trade.

Opening Pathways for Collaboration: As Brazil expands its footprint in the global cotton market, events like *Cotton Brazil Outlook* aim to strengthen trade relationships with key markets like India, paving the way for future growth and increased collaboration.
