New Delhi: The Kharif crop (summer crop) has been severely affected by unseasonal rainfall in several parts of the country. Standing crops have been destroyed due to heavy rainfall, storms, and cyclones in some areas, leading to significant financial losses for farmers. Farmers are demanding appropriate compensation from the government and are expressing their grievances at district headquarters. In this regard, the attention of both state and central governments has been drawn. The Indian government has asked most states to submit a detailed report on this matter, and it is being awaited. It is said that upon receiving the report, the government can provide
substantial assistance to the farmers.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar provided information on this matter during a media interaction on Saturday. He stated that the Kharif crop has been affected by unseasonal rainfall in several parts of the country, and the center is awaiting reports from the states to assess the damage. He further stated that the crops have undoubtedly suffered damage due to unseasonal rainfall. A survey is underway, and we are awaiting reports from the states to assess the extent of the damage. In a press conference, he mentioned that state governments can utilize the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to provide assistance to the farmers.
