In contemporary agriculture, technology plays a pivotal role, contributing significantly to various aspects such as weather prediction and increased crop production. Presently, the CSIR-CIMAP (Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is gearing up to launch a mobile application named the "CSIR Aroma App" on January 31. This app aims to furnish farmers with information about medicinal and aromatic crops. Through the app, farmers will gain valuable insights into cultivating these plants, enabling them to refine farming practices and boost their income. The application is available for download on the Google Play Store.

Access to Precious Information for Farmers:

Scientifically crafted by experts from CSIR-CIMAP in Lucknow, this initiative is designed to benefit farmers. According to media reports, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director of CSIR-CIMAP, highlighted that the Aroma app, operating under the Aroma Mission, will provide comprehensive information about aromatic crops. This encompasses details about cultivation techniques, harvesting processes, characteristics of popular varieties, and methods of processing. The app also offers insights into symptoms, prevention strategies, and the management of pests and diseases.

Availability of Scientific Advice:

The app facilitates farmers in seeking scientific advice pertaining to crop cultivation, processing techniques, and information regarding pests and diseases. Farmers can actively participate in discussions with scientists through this platform. The app features Geo-coded Aroma Clusters and Distillation Units, providing valuable resources for farmers.

App Registration Requirement:

To unlock the benefits of the Aroma app, farmers and traders are required to register on the platform. Registered users can also participate in discussions with one another. Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, as per media reports, emphasized the concerted efforts to unite farmers and the industry on a common platform. This approach aims to empower farmers with knowledge about their produce buyers, enabling them to align their farming practices with industry demands. The Aroma Mission app serves as a bridge between farmers and the industry, offering a collaborative space for both stakeholders.
