In a significant move to double farmers' income and boost milk production, the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Dairy Federation Limited, affiliated milk unions, and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) have signed a five-year collaboration agreement. This agreement can be extended further with mutual consent.
As part of this initiative, milk collection centers will be established in every Gram Panchayat. The processing capacity of milk unions will be enhanced, and the number of dairy cooperative societies will be increased. These steps are expected to significantly raise farmers' income and usher in a new era of dairy development in the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that the government’s Manifesto 2023 included several key promises for dairy farmers. These included setting up dairy cooperative societies and collection centers in every village and increasing the number of Sanchi dairies, milk coolers, mini dairy plants, and chilling centers in every district under the White Revolution Mission with an investment of ₹2,500 crore. This agreement plays a vital role in fulfilling those commitments and will strengthen the state’s cooperative dairy system.
The NDDB will further strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s reputed 'Sanchi' brand. The brand will retain its existing national identity and name. Under this collaboration, NDDB will not charge any additional management fee for operating and managing milk unions. Moreover, there will be no consultancy fees for setting up new processing units and infrastructure development.
To ensure farmer welfare, a grievance redressal system will also be developed to address issues raised by dairy farmers associated with cooperative societies. This initiative paves the way for a more empowered future for dairy farmers in Madhya Pradesh and is set to elevate the 'Sanchi' brand to new national prominence.
