Despite fluctuating weather conditions across the country, no significant drop in temperature is expected in Delhi over the next few days. Daytime heat will persist, with maximum temperatures continuing to rise. On Sunday, the city recorded a high of 35.8°C, which is three degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 20.3°C, one degree higher than average. Humidity levels fluctuated between 91% and 47%. Today's maximum temperature is expected to reach 36°C, with little relief from the heat.

Pollution Worsens: AQI Expected to Reach 'Very Poor' Category

Delhi's pollution levels continue to be a cause for concern, with no immediate relief in sight. Forecasts indicate that air quality is set to worsen in the coming days. According to the Air Quality Early Warning System, the city's air could reach the "very poor" category over the next three days due to slow wind speeds, which are likely to contribute to rising pollution levels.

As per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's air quality on Sunday remained in the "poor" category, with an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 277, slightly lower than Saturday’s reading of 278. However, 12 areas in Delhi recorded AQI levels above 300, placing them in the "very poor" category. Anand Vihar registered the highest AQI at 359.

With pollution levels on the rise, the situation is expected to worsen further. The Air Quality Early Warning System has predicted that Delhi's air quality will remain in the "very poor" range between October 21 and 23.

Other Cities Also Facing Poor Air Quality

Several other cities are also grappling with deteriorating air quality. According to CPCB data, Singrauli recorded an AQI of 290, Sonepat 249, Hanumangarh 248, Ghaziabad 243, Bhiwani 233, and Rohtak 225. In cities like Hajipur, Bhiwadi, Asansol, Hisar, and Bhagalpur, AQI levels ranged between 216 and 224, indicating concerning pollution levels across these regions.

As Delhi and other cities continue to battle rising pollution, both the temperature and air quality pose serious challenges in the days ahead.
