According to the Meteorological Department, a heatwave is expected to resume from May 16 in Delhi weather, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Meanwhile, today, May 15, thunderstorms with rain are anticipated in parts of Odisha, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
The capital city, Delhi, is set to experience extreme heat starting today, May 15. The Meteorological Department has also issued a warning for strong winds. This week, temperatures in Delhi are likely to soar up to 44 degrees Celsius. According to the IMD, today's forecast for Delhi includes clear skies with maximum temperatures reaching 42 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures around 25 degrees Celsius. From May 16, Delhi-NCR is expected to face scorching winds and rising temperatures, exacerbating the heat conditions for the residents throughout the week.
Temperature to Hit 45 Degrees in Chandigarh, Faridabad, and Other Cities:
The Meteorological Department has issued a severe heatwave and strong wind alert for parts of Punjab and Haryana from May 16 to 18. Cities like Chandigarh, Hisar, Faridabad, and Amritsar will be particularly affected. The intense heatwave this week is expected to push temperatures in cities such as Chandigarh, Faridabad, Rohtak, Hisar, and Panipat above 45 degrees Celsius.
Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during peak hours as the region braces for a severe heatwave.
