Desi Gaupalan Protsahan Yojana: Get Up to 75% Subsidy on Cow Rearing – Know the Application Process

The main objective of the Desi Cow Rearing Promotion Scheme is to encourage the conservation and breeding of indigenous cow breeds such as Sahiwal, Gir, and Tharparkar. Under this scheme, farmers, livestock rearers, and unemployed youth in Bihar will be provided with self-employment opportunities, contributing to their economic and social upliftment as well as the state's overall development.

Subsidy Provided the Scheme:

The scheme offers financial assistance for setting up a dairy unit with 2 or 4 indigenous cows or heifers (female calves) as follows:

  1. 75% subsidy for Extremely Backward Classes (EBC), Scheduled Castes (SC), and Scheduled Tribes (ST).
  2. 50% subsidy for all other categories.

Areas Covered Under the Scheme:

The scheme will be implemented in rural areas of all districts of Bihar.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Landless farmers
  2. Small and marginal farmers
  3. Farmers living below the poverty line (BPL)
  4. Educated unemployed youth

Expenses and Financial Assistance the Scheme:

Implementation of the Scheme:

  1. The scheme will be implemented under the Directorate of Dairy Development, with district-level execution managed by the District Dairy Development Officer.
  2. Applicants who were unable to avail benefits in the 2023-24 financial year will be given priority in 2024-25.

Important Information:

  1. Bank loans will be provided under this scheme, and the subsidy amount will be adjusted accordingly.
  2. The scheme is only for rural livestock farmers.
  3. Applicants should carefully read the eligibility criteria and conditions before applying.
