The main objective of the Desi Cow Rearing Promotion Scheme is to encourage the conservation and breeding of indigenous cow breeds such as Sahiwal, Gir, and Tharparkar. Under this scheme, farmers, livestock rearers, and unemployed youth in Bihar will be provided with self-employment opportunities, contributing to their economic and social upliftment as well as the state's overall development.
The scheme offers financial assistance for setting up a dairy unit with 2 or 4 indigenous cows or heifers (female calves) as follows:
