The Bihar government is set to conduct a digital crop survey in 28 districts to provide farmers with the benefits of government schemes. This survey will make all information, from crops to land details, available online. To facilitate this, two-day training-cum-workshop on AgriTech was inaugurated at the Agriculture Building in the state capital, Patna. During the event, Bihar's Agriculture Minister, Mangal Pandey, announced the creation of a digital platform to provide farmers with easy access to all farming-related information.
The government aims to offer various farming-related information to farmers, including field details, crop information, land area, land records, and maps. This initiative will ensure that farmers receive the benefits of all government schemes swiftly and directly. Since the last Rabi season, digital crop surveys have been conducted in 20 districts of Bihar. The central government plans to extend this digital crop survey to around 400 districts in the coming days, with the development of digital public infrastructure over the next three years.
Sanjay Agrawal, Secretary of the Agriculture Department, stated that a digital crop survey was conducted in 2,069 villages across 20 districts during the Kharif crop season. For the year 2024-25, the goal is to conduct the digital crop survey in approximately 10,000 villages across 28 districts. This survey will gather detailed data on crops and land area, providing accurate statistics on crop production and farming.
Benefits of Digital Crop Survey for Government Schemes: The digital crop survey will offer farmers detailed information about their fields, crops, and land area, along with the benefits of various government schemes provided by both central and state governments. These benefits include information on the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme, crop procurement, and compensation for crop damage. The two-day training-cum-workshop on the digital crop survey at the Agriculture Building in Patna was attended by Agriculture Director Mukesh Kumar Lal, Horticulture Director Abhishek Kumar, officials from the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, and technical experts in information technology.
