On September 2024, the Government of India reached a significant milestone under the Digital Agriculture Mission by establishing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for agriculture. On December 5, 2024, Gujarat became the first state in the country to generate Farmer IDs for 25% of the targeted farmers. This achievement represents a critical step towards building a comprehensive, standards-driven digital agriculture ecosystem under the Agri Stack initiative.

Farmer ID: A Unique Digital Identity:

The Farmer ID is a unique digital identity linked to Aadhaar and dynamically connected to the state’s land records system. This means that any changes in the farmer's land records are automatically reflected in the Farmer ID. Additionally, crop sowing data, captured digitally under the Digital Agriculture Mission, is also linked to the ID.
