Divisional Millet Food Festival Fair to be Held on March 10 & 11, 2025, at Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Jabalpur

The Department of Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development, in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University (JNKVV), Jabalpur, is organizing the "Divisional Millets Festival cum Agriculture Fair-2025" on March 10 and 11 at the JNKVV Sports Complex.

Objective of the Millets Fair:

The primary goal of this fair is to promote small grain crops such as sorghum, pearl millet, kodo, kutki, finger millet, barnyard millet, foxtail millet, and proso millet, which enhance nutrition and extend the shelf life of food products. Millets are often referred to as miracle grains or crops of the future as they can thrive in both favorable and harsh environmental conditions. This event aims to raise awareness about millets and encourage their consumption while directly connecting sellers and buyers.

Millets Fair: A Boost to Nutrition, Market, and Awareness:

1. The two-day fair is expected to witness a footfall of around 5,000 farmers daily.
2. Over 300 stalls will be set up by government, semi-government, private organizations, FPOs, NGOs, and seed committees.
3. Various exhibits will showcase value-added millet products under the "One District-One Product" scheme, along with displays of agricultural tools and machinery.
4. Stalls featuring fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, natural and organic farming models, FPOs, agri-business startups, agroforestry, and medicinal plants will be available.
5. Agricultural scientists will conduct discussions on various topics, equipping farmers with modern techniques and innovations.
6. Cultural programs by artists from different districts will add vibrancy to the event.
7. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste and enjoy delicious and nutritious millet-based dishes.
8. The fair will help improve market availability for millet-based products and increase consumer awareness.
9. Collaboration in areas such as nutrition, food processing, health, and education will be encouraged to further the reach of millet-based industries.
