Tractors are indispensable agricultural tools for farmers, enabling them to perform all farming tasks efficiently and quickly. Now, a new innovation has hit the market: driverless tractors. Among the pioneers of this technology is a young farmer who has developed a tractor that can operate without a driver and even plant seeds in the field. Let's explore how this driverless tractor works.
Raju Varokar, a young farmer from Maharashtra, faced challenges in finding labor for soybean farming. Due to the labor shortage, he was unable to cultivate his fields effectively. This predicament led him to think of a solution that would reduce costs and eliminate the need for labor. Motivated by this idea, Raju set out to create a driverless tractor.
The driverless tractor uses GPS-connected software and autopilot sowing technology. By putting the tractor in autopilot mode, it can perform various tasks such as plowing, harvesting, transporting, and spraying. This electric tractor can reduce farming costs by up to four times.
Using this technology, seeds are planted in straight lines, which increases productivity, saves time and labor, and reduces costs. The investment required for this technology is between 4.5 to 5 lakh rupees. It enhances seed germination and overall crop productivity.
Unique Features of the Driverless Tractor: The driverless tractor is equipped with several unique safety features. The tablet user interface allows farmers to program necessary inputs efficiently and provides control to prevent the tractor from straying. Farmers can control the tractor remotely via the tablet. Additionally, the remote engine start-stop feature gives the ability to stop the engine when needed. Using this technology on Mahindra tractors enables farmers to work in their fields for extended periods, ensuring better quality and consistency in farming operations, ultimately leading to increased productivity and agricultural yield.
