To simplify processes for its members, the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has made the PF account transfer process more efficient when changing jobs. In the majority of cases, there is now no need to route online transfer claims through the previous or current employer. Under this revised procedure, it is expected that in the future, nearly 1.20 crore out of 1.30 crore total transfer claims approximately 94%-will be directly forwarded to EPFO without requiring the employer’s intervention.
Currently, transfer claims do not require employer approval when a member leaves one job and joins another. From April 1, 2024, till now, EPFO has received around 1.30 crore online transfer claims, of which approximately 45 lakh claims are auto-generated transfer claims, accounting for 34.5% of the total claims.
The new simplified process is expected to significantly reduce turnaround time for claims, ensuring faster service delivery. Additionally, member grievances related to transfer claims, which currently account for 17% of total grievances, will be greatly reduced, along with corresponding claim rejections. Large employers with heavy workloads related to approval processes will see significant improvements in ease of business.
Building Trust and Confidence in EPFO Services: With the revised process, transfer claims will be processed directly by EPFO, speeding up the service for members. These improvements not only streamline the processes but also increase trust and confidence in EPFO services.
These initiatives demonstrate the government’s commitment to simplifying processes and improving the efficiency of EPFO, ensuring that the ease of living for members is enhanced. By leveraging technology and implementing member-friendly policies, EPFO aims to deliver seamless and secure services to its members.
