Good news for farmers in Haryana: IOCL refinery to purchase stubble for ethanol production, farmers will receive money.

There is good news for farmers troubled by stubble management in Haryana. The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) refinery in Panipat, Haryana, will purchase stubble from farmers for ethanol production. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this ethanol plant, set up to produce ethanol from stubble, two months ago.

According to the information, the Panipat IOCL refinery will purchase stubble from farmers at a rate of 172 rupees per quintal. The special thing is that this stubble will be collected directly from the farmers' fields. However, farmers will have to do one thing, which is to make stubble bundles to provide them to the refinery.

The IOCL plant, built with an investment of around 900 crores, has a capacity to produce 100 kiloliters (1 kiloliter = 1,000 liters) of ethanol daily. The plant will contact farmers from the surrounding districts for stubble procurement. For this purpose, stubble collection centers have been established by the plant.

Farmers will incur a cost of approximately 2,000 rupees per acre for making stubble bundles using their own straw balers, whereas the stubble sells for up to 3,500 rupees per acre. This way, farmers will save around 1,500 rupees per acre. Additionally, the Haryana government has also made provision for paying farmers an additional price of Rs 1000 per acre for stubble management .
