A grand inauguration and foundation-laying ceremony was held in Sunwaha village of Begumganj block under the chief patronage of Union Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan. On this occasion, development works worth ₹3.54 crore were either inaugurated or had their foundations laid. This included the foundation laying of works worth ₹70 lakh and the inauguration of projects amounting to ₹2.84 crore.
While addressing the public gathering, Minister Shri Chouhan stated that the government is committed to ensuring that every poor citizen in the country has their own permanent (pucca) house. He shared that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin, 7,638 new houses have been sanctioned in the Silwani Assembly constituency for the year 2024–25, and 29,292 houses have been registered under the scheme. He further assured that any eligible beneficiaries left out of the scheme will be identified through a survey and included accordingly, ensuring that no one is deprived of their rights.
Emphasizing the government's commitment to women empowerment, Shri Chouhan said that women are being made financially independent through Self-Help Groups, creating thousands of “Lakhpati Didis” (women earning over a lakh rupees annually). As many as 10,500 women in the Silwani region have already become Lakhpati Didis.
The minister announced that, at the current pace of implementation, every poor family in the state will have a pucca house by the year 2026. Under the PM Janman Awas Yojana, a special housing initiative for backward tribal communities, 46,000 houses have been constructed in Madhya Pradesh, making it the leading state in the country under this scheme.
Government Schemes Bringing Transformation to Villages:
Highlighting the success of welfare schemes, Shri Chouhan noted that the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana has liberated women from smoke-filled kitchens, while the Har Ghar Nal Yojana is ensuring tap water reaches every household. He emphasized that public service is the greatest religion, and serving the people is the government’s top priority.
During the program, various beneficiaries were given the benefits of several government schemes. Former Cabinet Minister Shri Rampal Singh also addressed the gathering and highlighted the progress made through government initiatives and development work in the region.
