To accelerate the nation’s development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has prioritized the mantra of GYAN—Gareeb (Poor), Yuva (Youth), Kisan (Farmers), and Nari (Women). In line with this vision, the "Kisan Kalyan Mission" aims to increase farmers' income and make agriculture a profitable venture. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Madhya Pradesh government is actively working to empower farmers with technology, make them self-reliant, and strengthen agricultural infrastructure.
Madhya Pradesh Achievements in Agriculture:
- Krishi Karman Award: The state has received the Krishi Karman Award seven times, reflecting its outstanding agricultural productivity.
- Mukhyamantri Solar Pump Yojana: Renamed as the "Pradhan Mantri Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana", this scheme is empowering farmers with solar irrigation solutions.
- Atal Krishi Yojana: Over 26.59 lakh agricultural consumers have benefitted under this initiative.
Self-Sufficiency in the Power Sector:
Currently, Madhya Pradesh has a total power capacity of 24,108 MW. The state is focusing on providing solar-powered pumps to farmers, ensuring energy independence in agriculture. Over the next four years, 1.25 lakh farmers will receive solar pumps.
Crop Diversification and Expansion of Irrigation:
The state government is encouraging farmers to adopt high-value crops and promoting crop diversification. The irrigated area in the state is set to expand from 50 lakh hectares to 100 lakh hectares in the next five years.
Key Schemes and Benefits:
- Rani Durgavati Shree Anna Protsahan Yojana: Farmers receive financial support of ₹1,000 per quintal, with a maximum benefit of ₹3,900 per hectare.
- Zero Interest Crop Loans: For the year 2023-24, ₹600 crore has been allocated for interest-free short-term crop loans.
- Soybean Support Price: For the first time, the state government procured soybeans at ₹4,892 per quintal, benefiting over 2 lakh farmers.
- Fertilizer Distribution: Steps have been taken to ensure the availability of quality fertilizers through an increased number of distribution centers. Strict action is being taken against those selling substandard fertilizers.
New Projects and Research Centers:
- A Chana Research Center in Ujjain and a Shree Anna Research Center in Dindori are being established.
- The "Mission Dal" program will be launched to boost pulse production over the next five years.
- Madhya Pradesh ranks first in the country with ₹5,000 crore worth of projects approved under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund Scheme.
Animal Husbandry and Rural Development: Over 400 mobile veterinary units are providing doorstep animal healthcare services to livestock owners. A PM Kisan Samriddhi Kendra will be established in every gram panchayat.
