Agricultural experts and scientists have issued crucial advice to farmers in about 10 states across the country, particularly focusing on the protection of key crops such as paddy and maize. Farmers in states like Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, and the northeastern regions have been urged to take immediate measures to safeguard their ripened crops from waterlogging and pest infestations. Recent heavy rains have caused water accumulation in many areas, increasing the risk of crop damage and decay. Experts are advising farmers to take prompt action to prevent losses.

In addition to crop protection, the current weather conditions have been described as highly favorable for vegetable cultivation. Farmers have been encouraged to start sowing spinach, radish, turnip, coriander, and peas. The experts emphasized that now is the ideal time for sowing these vegetables, as the climate and weather patterns are highly conducive for their growth and development.

Focus on Harvest and Sowing in Jammu & Kashmir

Farmers in Jammu & Kashmir have been advised to begin harvesting their ripened crops of paddy, maize, and moong immediately. Due to the ongoing rainfall, there is an increased risk of these crops rotting if left exposed to water. Farmers are being urged to take preventive measures to protect their crops from moisture damage. Alongside this, experts have pointed out that it is an optimal time for sowing crops such as gourd, maize, onions, and garlic in the region.

Himachal Pradesh: Ideal Time for Vegetable Sowing

In Himachal Pradesh, farmers have been informed that the current season is perfect for sowing a variety of vegetable crops. Experts recommend that farmers begin planting spinach, radish, turnip, coriander, peas, garlic, beetroot, and fenugreek. These crops are expected to thrive under the present climatic conditions and provide better yields.

Farmers in Uttarakhand have been advised to implement proper pest and disease management for their tomato crops, while also continuing with the sowing of sugarcane. In the northeastern states, farmers have been encouraged to maintain appropriate water levels in paddy fields and begin sowing rabi crops, as the conditions are favorable for their cultivation.
