Favorable rainfall and conducive weather conditions have led to a good Kharif harvest and accelerated Rabi sowing in Madhya Pradesh. The state government has ensured adequate supply of electricity, water, and fertilizers for agricultural activities. Despite challenges in fertilizer supply due to international factors, efforts were made to provide sufficient fertilizers during the Kharif season, and the distribution continues seamlessly for the Rabi season.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav stated that during the Kharif season of 2024, 17.58 lakh metric tonnes of urea were distributed compared to 15.54 lakh metric tonnes in Kharif 2023, marking an increase of 2.04 lakh metric tonnes. Additionally, 10.47 lakh metric tonnes of DAP and NPK fertilizers were provided to farmers in Kharif 2024, compared to 10.56 lakh metric tonnes during Kharif 2023.
Farmers are being provided with sufficient electricity and irrigation facilities for the Rabi season. Despite international challenges, especially in the supply of DAP fertilizers, 7.3 lakh metric tonnes of urea have been distributed since October 1, 2024, compared to 7.4 lakh metric tonnes during the same period last year.
Approval of 254 Additional Fertilizer Sales Centers: To enhance fertilizer distribution, 254 additional cash-based fertilizer sales centers under Markfed have been approved. Of these, 160 centers have already commenced operations based on recommendations from district collectors.
Regular Monitoring of Fertilizer Availability: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has been actively reviewing the availability of fertilizers, ensuring smooth procurement and distribution. Currently, 31 rakes of DAP and NPK fertilizers and 20 rakes of urea are in transit. Approximately 11,000 metric tonnes of DAP and NPK are being received daily to meet the demands of Rabi crops, ensuring sufficient supply for farmers across the state.
