For farmers, several schemes are being implemented by the Central Government, one of which is the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme. Under this scheme, crops are insured against potential losses incurred due to various reasons. If a crop is destroyed for any reason, eligible farmers receive compensation under this scheme. Farmers who wish to avail themselves of this scheme can apply from their homes as well. Here's how:

Ensure You Have These Documents:

To enroll for crop insurance, farmers need to have their Aadhar card, land-related documents, if engaged in sharecropping then sharecropping documents, bank passbook, and a phone number. Farmers can apply for this from their mobile or computer. Firstly, farmers should visit the official website of the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme at https://pmfby.gov.in/. Then, click on the "Farmers Corner" displayed on the homepage.

If You Are New, Choose This Option:

A page will appear on your screen. It will show two options: "Login For Farmer" and "Guest Farmer". If you are applying for the first time, click on the "Guest Farmer" option. Clicking on "Guest Farmer" will open a form on your screen to fill out the application. Then, fill in your full name in the form. After that, fill in the name as it appears in the bank passbook. Then, provide details about the person you are indicating a relationship with, such as mother, father, or any other relative. 

Provide All Necessary Information:

Then, fill in your mobile number and age. After that, provide information about your caste and category in this form. Then, fill in your gender and choose the type of farming you do. Here, farmers should note that those farming on less than two hectares of land should choose the "Small Farmer" category. While those with more than six hectares of land will choose the "Other" option. After this, choose the farmer category, where you will need to specify whether you own the land, are a sharecropper, or farm on leased land. Then, provide your address, state, district, block, and village information.

Having an Aadhar card number is necessary:

After selecting the UID option, enter your Aadhar card number. Then fill in the bank account information. If you know your bank's IFSC code, click on 'Yes'. If not, click on 'No', and then enter the state, district, bank name, bank branch, and savings account number twice. After entering this information, there will be an option to fill in the captcha. After filling it, click on the 'Create User' option. After clicking, you will see information about the bank details on your screen along with the option to confirm and proceed further.

Login Using Mobile: addition, farmers who have already applied for crop insurance for the previous Rabi or Kharif season can click on the option 'Login For Farmer'. Then enter your registered mobile number. After that, fill in the captcha. Then you will be requested for an OTP. After that, an OTP will be received. After filling it, the dashboard of the Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme will open. In this page, you will see your basic information. Then, by clicking on 'Apply for Insurance', you can fill in the information and avail the insurance facility.
