Generally, after farmers cultivate their crops, they often face the challenge of selling them, involving various complexities. However, there is a place where crops can be sold easily – the e-NAM (National Agriculture Market). It is an all-India electronic trading portal, allowing farmers to sell their produce while traders can easily purchase it. Through this platform, farmers can effortlessly sell their yield, contributing to their profits. Thousands of farmers have benefited from this platform, eliminating the need to visit physical marketplaces.
Through e-NAM, farmers in several states are successfully selling their crops, resulting in significant profits. According to experts, the maximum trading of crops through e-NAM is happening in 11 states. These states include Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. Farmers in these states are selling various crops such as cauliflower, rice, cotton, corn, onions, and tomatoes through e-NAM this year.
Launch 7 Years Ago: The Central Government launched e-NAM seven years ago. In 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated the Electronic National Agriculture Market for the benefit of farmers and traders. The government introduced e-NAM to provide an online market platform for agricultural produce, following the principle of 'One Nation, One Market.' Currently, 1,361 mandis (marketplaces) in 27 states and Union Territories are integrated with the e-NAM platform. Additionally, 17.68 million farmers, 3,320 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), 0.25 million traders, and approximately 0.11 million commission agents are registered with e-NAM.
Selling Crops Through e-NAM: If you are a farmer and wish to sell your crops through e-NAM, you need to visit the official website enam.gov.in. After that, go to the home page and click on 'Registration,' where you will enter your email address. Once you enter your email address, a temporary login ID will be sent to the provided email address. Now, you can log in using this temporary login ID to register yourself on e-NAM. Subsequently, fill in the KYC details and upload necessary documents before submitting them. After obtaining approval from the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, you can sell your produce.
