This year, sudden weather changes have caused significant losses for farmers. Rising temperatures in February and unseasonal rainfall in March have led to the destruction of Rabi crops. In nearly six districts of Bihar, crops have suffered considerable damage, with more than 33% of crops affected in 299 Panchayats across these six districts. To compensate for these losses, the Bihar government has announced a scheme called the Krishi Input Anudan Yojana, which is highly beneficial for farmers. According to the notification issued by the Bihar government, farmers may receive compensation within 7 to 10 days. To avail of this compensation, farmers need to apply on the Bihar DBT portal by April 20.
Grant Per Hectare: Under this scheme, farmers will receive a grant of INR 13,500 per hectare annually from the government. This scheme will also benefit small farmers in 196 blocks of 23 districts. If you wish to apply for this scheme, you can visit the official website of the Bihar state at dbtagriculture.bihar.gov.in.
For rain-fed (unirrigated) areas where crop losses have occurred, a compensation of INR 8,500 per hectare will be provided. For irrigated areas where losses have occurred in Rabi crops, compensation of INR 17,000 per hectare will be provided. For perennial crops like sugarcane, a compensation of INR 22,500 per hectare will be given.
