The department has advised farmers to ensure that no one smokes cigarettes or bidis in the fields, as even a single spark could ignite dry wheat fields. Agricultural experts have noted, "It has been observed that sparks from agricultural machinery can also trigger fires. Additionally, the department has advised farmers to switch off transformers near their fields, as short circuits can also lead to fires. They mentioned that there is relatively no requirement for farmers to irrigate their fields, and in such instances, transformers supplying electricity to tube wells can be deactivated.
