Floriculture Boosting Farmers' Income, The Minister of Horticulture and Food Processing has stated that floriculture, or flower cultivation, can significantly increase farmers' income. Over the past four years, the area under flower cultivation in Madhya Pradesh has expanded by approximately 5,000 hectares.

Floriculture: A Profitable Option for Small Farmers:

Farmers with one hectare or less of land can also earn substantial income through flower cultivation. This form of farming is quick to yield results and is considered a cash crop, providing immediate cash payments to farmers. Flowers from Madhya Pradesh are in high demand in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur. The Horticulture Department is actively encouraging farmers to adopt floriculture to enhance their livelihoods.

First High-Tech Floriculture Nursery in the State:

Minister Shri Kushwah highlighted that nurseries in the state are being upgraded with high-tech facilities. An e-Nursery portal has been developed to provide farmers with high-quality seeds and plants at subsidized rates. Under a 100-day action plan, 20,000 farmers and youths have been trained in modern techniques. As part of the National Agriculture Development Scheme, a high-tech floriculture nursery is being established in Gwalior at a cost of ₹13 crore, where innovative technologies for flower cultivation will be implemented.
