Cooperation Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang emphasized that modern technology and cooperative efforts are key to farmers' upliftment. Agriculture and farmers remain the government's top priorities, playing a crucial role in the vision of a developed India. He highlighted the need for collective efforts to ensure their holistic development, stating that the government is continuously working in this direction. He also mentioned that Madhya Pradesh has set new benchmarks in the agricultural sector, achieving record production and winning the prestigious Krishi Karman Award seven times in a row.
Minister Shri Sarang stated that the Madhya Pradesh government is making extensive efforts to modernize agriculture across all sectors. The primary goal is to transform farmers into agri-entrepreneurs, which can only be achieved through cooperative initiatives. He added that Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) will play a pivotal role in promoting organic farming, leading to increased farmer incomes and improved consumer health.
Shri Sarang further stated that the FPO Conclave would reinforce the spirit of cooperation among farmers. He emphasized the importance of adopting new technologies, food processing, and value addition in agriculture to ensure higher profitability. The government is committed to providing all possible support in this regard.
Food Processing to Benefit Farmers: Horticulture and Food Processing Minister Shri Narayan Singh Kushwah highlighted the significance of FPOs and food processing in making farmers self-reliant. He stressed the need to encourage crop diversification and agri-based industries. He also announced that the state government will soon organize a major Food Processing Summit, bringing together farmers, entrepreneurs, buyers, and sellers on a common platform.
Boost for Agri-Based Industries: Minister Shri Kushwah noted that the government is working on multiple schemes to double farmers’ income. Madhya Pradesh currently holds the top position in India’s spice industry, and the government is continuously promoting cooperative farming initiatives. He also informed that new farmer registrations have begun on the Horticulture Department’s portal and urged farmers to adopt advanced agricultural techniques and integrate horticulture to increase their income.
Support for Organic Farming and Agricultural Equipment:
Organic farming is gaining popularity across the country as it ensures chemical-free produce and promotes better health.
The government is offering up to 35% subsidy for individuals or organizations investing in the food processing sector. Additionally, various agricultural equipment is also available at subsidized rates.
