Online Registration and Training Facility, Several initiatives have been undertaken to connect small and marginal farmers with the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) and help them secure better prices for their produce. To facilitate this, an online registration option is available through the e-NAM portal and mobile app (accessible on Android and iOS platforms). Additionally, training programs are conducted in Agricultural Produce Market Committees (APMCs), and a toll-free helpline (18002700224) has been provided to assist farmers with registration and the trading process.
Since small and marginal farmers often have limited produce individually, forming Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) helps them gain collective advantages. FPOs aggregate the produce of their members, enabling them to trade more efficiently using the FPO trading module on the e-NAM platform. As of February 28, 2025, a total of 4,392 FPOs have been onboarded on e-NAM.
To further simplify trading, farmers can now use the farm gate module, allowing them to sell their produce online without physically traveling to the mandi (market).
Boost for Inter-State Trade: APMCs operate under the Agricultural Produce Market Committee Act of their respective states. To facilitate online inter-state trade, provisions have been introduced to recognize trading licenses from other states, making transactions smoother and more accessible for farmers.
e-NAM 2.0: Enhanced Logistics Services:
Recognizing the logistical challenges in promoting inter-state and inter-mandi trade, the government has decided to upgrade the existing e-NAM platform to e-NAM 2.0. This upgrade will integrate multiple logistics service providers, addressing gaps in transportation, reducing wastage, and ensuring faster trade, ultimately improving farmers’ incomes.
Standardization of Tradable Parameters:
Based on requests from state agricultural departments and marketing boards, standardized trading parameters for different commodities have been finalized. As of February 28, 2025, 231 commodities have been approved for online auctions on the e-NAM platform.
Modern Features of e-NAM 2.0:
To make the platform more efficient, robust, user-friendly, inclusive, scalable, and open-network compliant, several upgrades have been planned. Key features of e-NAM 2.0 include:
With these advancements, e-NAM 2.0 aims to revolutionize agricultural trade, making it more seamless and profitable for farmers across India.
