The government is running several schemes to encourage people to include more nutritious grains in their diet and increase their production. The government is making every possible effort to raise awareness among the people. Subsidies are being provided to farmers on agricultural inputs to increase the production of coarse grains and nutritious pulses. State governments will also provide benefits to farmers at their level under this scheme. According to the plan, farmers will be provided with a mini-kit of coarse grain seeds for free. In this regard, the Uttar Pradesh government has planned to increase the production of moong, urad, and ragi during the financial year 2022-23. The government is spending a sum of 7.4365 crore rupees on this plan, and it will benefit approximately 1.5 lakh farmers.
Benefits of the Scheme: Approximately 1.5 lakh farmers will receive a mini-kit of high-quality moong, urad, and ragi seeds for free. The government announced this in this year's budget. This rapid increase in the production of urad and moong will benefit farmers more, as these pulse crops are a good source of protein, and ragi is rich in various nutrients.
Where to Get the Seeds? To obtain the seeds, farmers will need to contact the designated government agricultural seed stores in their vicinity. They can also seek information about the scheme from their local Panchayat agriculture advisors or block-level agricultural officers. For more information, you can visit the official website of the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department: http://upagriculture.com/.
Documents Required to Avail the Scheme: To receive the seeds for free, farmers will need identification proof, address proof, land documents, bank account details, and registration number. Only residents of Uttar Pradesh who cultivate on their own land will be eligible for the free mini-kit of seeds.
