Prime Minister Narendra Modi has bestowed numerous unique gifts upon Madhya Pradesh, driving the state swiftly toward becoming a developed region. Today, Sunday, October 20, marks a historic day for the Vindhya region of Rewa, as PM Modi will virtually inaugurate the much-anticipated Rewa Airport. The operationalization of this airport is set to boost tourism and investment in the entire Vindhya region.
Rewa Airport has received clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for flight operations. This airport will benefit millions of people from districts like Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Satna, Maihar, and the border areas of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The airport has been developed under the government’s UDAN scheme, aimed at improving air connectivity between smaller cities and making air travel affordable and accessible to the general public.
With Rewa Airport now operational, it will directly benefit over 1.5 million people in Rewa, 800,000 in Mauganj, 1.2 million in Sidhi, 1.2 million in Singrauli, and 1.8 million in Satna district. This enhanced air connectivity will accelerate the region’s development and strengthen its economy. Rewa is the sixth airport in Madhya Pradesh to receive a DGCA license, and the commencement of flights here will benefit over 6.5 million people. Additionally, residents in the border areas of Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will also find relief with this new air route.
Rewa Airport is poised for expansion, with plans to introduce passenger and cargo services in the near future, giving the region's development a fresh impetus. The airport has been designed with modern facilities and is capable of handling ATR-72 aircraft. These features are expected to attract interest from various airlines. Beyond tourism, the airport will also encourage further investment in the region.
Rewa Airport has been built with state-of-the-art facilities, keeping in mind the needs of the next 50 years, ensuring passengers a seamless travel experience. The airport’s significance is further heightened by the numerous tourist attractions and industrial hubs in the region. Key highlights include the Singrauli Power Plant, 29 large industrial units in the Vindhya region, a robust highway network, Mukundpur White Safari, Bandhavgarh National Park, Sanjay National Park, Asia’s largest solar power plant, stunning waterfalls, and religious sites like the Tapo Bhumi of Lord Shri Ram in Chitrakoot and the temple of Sharda Maa in Maihar.
