The Minister of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Protection announced that paddy procurement for the Kharif Marketing Season 2024-25 has commenced today, December 2. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Common Grade paddy is set at ₹2,300 per quintal, while Grade-A paddy will fetch ₹2,320 per quintal. Only Fair Average Quality (FAQ) produce will be procured at these rates. This procurement campaign will run from December 2, 2024, to January 20, 2025, with procurement scheduled every week from Monday to Friday.
As per the guidelines set by the Central Government, 4.5 million metric tons of paddy will be procured this season at MSP. The quality of the paddy will be tested by the procurement agency’s quality surveyor at the warehouse level before stacking. Transporters failing to deliver the procured stock within the stipulated time frame will face weekly penalties.

Payments for procured paddy will be directly credited to the farmers’ bank accounts linked to their Aadhaar numbers. Instructions have been issued to district collectors to prevent illegal sales of produce from neighboring states during the procurement period.
To address technical issues during the procurement process, technical cells have been established at both district and state levels. District-level committees will handle disputes related to procurement and oversee the quality of procured grain. Additionally, a state-level control room has been set up with a helpline number, 0755-2551471, operational daily from 9 AM to 7 PM during the procurement period.
