Responding to queries about stubble burning, the Chief Minister noted a significant reduction in such incidents across Haryana. The Supreme Court has also commended the state's farmers for their efforts. The government continues to raise awareness among farmers about the negative impacts of stubble burning and provides various stubble management equipment at subsidized rates.
To address the issue of stubble burning, the Haryana government has deployed 3,224 nodal officers and has been providing Crop Residue Management (CRM) machines at subsidized rates to farmers since the 2018-19 agricultural season. The government is also offering incentives for using CRM machines, providing ₹1,000 per acre for machine use and an additional ₹500 per acre for transporting paddy stubble to cattle shelters.
In a meeting held on October 14, the Haryana Agriculture Department reported 468 incidents of stubble burning between September 15 and October 13. Upon verification, it was found that in 173 cases, no fire had occurred, and in four cases, the fires were related to non-agricultural land or waste burning.
