The Government of India has approved the continuation of the Pradhan Mantri Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA) scheme until 2025-26. This initiative aims to ensure fair prices for farmers while stabilizing the market prices of essential commodities. Under the Price Support Scheme (PSS), Tur (Arhar), Urad, Masoor, oilseeds, and copra will be procured at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
To boost domestic production and reduce import dependency, the government has decided to procure 100% of Tur, Urad, and Masoor production for the 2024-25 season. Additionally, this procurement commitment has been extended until 2028-29.
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved the procurement of 13.22 LMT of Tur, 9.40 LMT of Masoor, and 1.35 LMT of Urad. The procurement for the Kharif 2024-25 season will be carried out in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
Procurement Progress So Far:
Procurement has already begun in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana, with 1.31 LMT of Tur purchased so far, benefiting 89,219 farmers. The process will soon begin in other states as well. Farmers can register on the e-Samridhi portal and NCCF’s aSamyukti portal to avail of MSP benefits.
The government has reaffirmed its commitment to 100% procurement of Tur through central agencies like NAFED and NCCF, ensuring fair prices for farmers and strengthening India's self-sufficiency in pulses.
