Madhya Pradesh’s Minister for Cooperation and Youth Welfare, Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang, stated that the cooperative sector will play a crucial role in fulfilling Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. He highlighted that the central government has strengthened the cooperative sector by establishing a dedicated ministry, which has been entrusted to Shri Amit Shah.
Minister Sarang conducted a review meeting in Jabalpur with public representatives and officials from cooperative departments. The discussions covered key issues such as district cooperative central banks, PACS committees, crop procurement at minimum support prices (MSP), farmer payments, fertilizer distribution, and loan recovery. He informed that Madhya Pradesh is adopting the
Cooperative, Public, Private Partnership (CPPP) model to strengthen the cooperative sector.
During the recently held Global Investors Summit in Bhopal, agreements (MoUs) worth ₹2,305 crore were signed with major companies like Reliance, Baidyanath, and Patanjali to enhance cooperative sector development.
Minister Sarang emphasized that the CPPP model will empower farmers economically and provide a new direction to the rural economy. Stressing the need for transparency in the cooperative sector, he announced plans to establish primary cooperative consumer committees in every village panchayat. Additionally, cooperative societies will be integrated with activities such as gas agencies, petrol pumps, transportation, dairy production, forest produce, Jan Aushadhi Kendras, and fisheries to make them self-sustainable.
Ensuring Timely Fertilizer Supply and Payments for Farmers:
During the meeting, Member of Parliament Shri Ashish Dubey and other representatives emphasized the need for timely fertilizer distribution and swift payments for wheat and paddy procured at MSP. Minister Sarang assured that, under the International Cooperative Year 2025 initiative, primary agricultural cooperative societies will conduct PACS meetings. These meetings will focus on addressing farmers' concerns and requirements, making cooperative societies more beneficial for them.
Coordinated Efforts Essential for Farmers’ Welfare: Minister Sarang urged farmers to repay cooperative bank loans on time to ensure smooth banking operations. This will help maintain a seamless credit flow, enabling farmers to secure loans without difficulties in the future.
