Good news for farmers in Haryana! Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has announced that ₹300 crore will be provided as a bonus to farmers for Kharif crops, which will be credited directly to their bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Additionally, another ₹550 crore will be released soon. Earlier, on August 16, 2024, the government had already released ₹496.89 crore to farmers.

DBT Support of ₹14,860 Crore for Farmers:

The Chief Minister shared that between 2005 and 2014, a total of ₹1,158 crore was provided as compensation to farmers for crop damage. However, since 2014, a total of ₹14,860.29 crore has been transferred directly to farmers' accounts through DBT. He also appealed to members to encourage farmers to adopt organic farming. As of now, 23,776 farmers have registered on the portal for the scheme, and 9,910 of them have been verified.

Relief for Farmers through MSP-Based Crop Purchases:

The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government had promised to purchase all 24 crops at MSP rates as part of its election manifesto. For this Kharif season, every grain of paddy and bajra is being purchased at MSP. To date, 51.40 lakh metric tons of paddy out of the 52 lakh metric tons available in the markets have been procured. Additionally, 4.67 lakh metric tons of bajra have been purchased out of 4.76 lakh metric tons, and the purchase of moong has already begun, with 580 metric tons procured out of 1,033 metric tons.

Government's Commitment to Farmers' Welfare:

Chief Minister Saini stated that the welfare of farmers is the government's top priority. From seed to market, the government has been steadfast in supporting farmers at every step. To date, ₹13,500 crore has been transferred directly to farmers' bank accounts through DBT.

Big Decision for Arhatiyas' Welfare: Recognizing the crucial role of arhatiyas (commission agents) in the crop procurement process, the Haryana government has increased their commission from ₹46 per quintal to ₹55 per quintal. This decision is aimed at safeguarding the interests of both farmers and arhatiyas.
