Heat Wave Alert: Scorching Conditions Expected in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Other States Until May 28

Northern India is bracing for a severe heat wave over the coming days, with conditions expected to persist until May 28, 2024. The affected regions include Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi weather, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Gujarat, where extreme temperatures will be observed from May 25 to 29. Additionally, Western Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Maharashtra will experience intense heat on May 25 and 26, while Eastern Uttar Pradesh will be affected from May 26 to 28, and Western Madhya Pradesh on May 27 and 28.

Rajasthan Scorches, Heat Wave Continues in These States:

Rajasthan will face the most severe conditions, with a heat wave to severe heat wave forecasted from May 25 to 29. Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh will also experience significant heat from May 25 to 28, and Western Uttar Pradesh from May 26 to 28. Western Madhya Pradesh and the Gujarat region will see extreme temperatures on May 25.

Other Regions Affected: In addition to the heat wave, hot and humid weather will prevail over Assam on May 25 and 26, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from May 25 to 26, and Gujarat on May 27 and 28. Warm nights are expected in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi from May 25 to 28, and in Uttar Pradesh from May 25 to 26.

Extreme Temperatures and Intense Heat Experienced in These States Over the Last 24 Hours:
Over the past 24 hours, many parts of Rajasthan experienced severe heat wave conditions, while similar conditions were observed in isolated pockets of Western Madhya Pradesh. Isolated heat wave conditions were also reported in Haryana, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, and the Gujarat region. Notably, Gujarat has been experiencing heat wave conditions since May 15, while Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan have been affected since May 17.

As of May 24, 2024, maximum temperatures were significantly above normal (by 5.1°C or more) in Western Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya, and other isolated regions. The highest temperature recorded was 49.0°C in Phalodi, Western Rajasthan.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this intense heat wave.
