Uttar Pradesh, India, April 23, 2024 Over the next four days, Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state in India, is bracing for intense heatwave conditions, according to the latest forecast from the Meteorological Department. It is anticipated that from April 23 to April 26, scorching heat and heatwave conditions will prevail in various parts of the state, with temperatures soaring beyond 42 degrees Celsius in some areas. Yesterday, several regions in Uttar Pradesh witnessed maximum temperatures reaching between 42 to 44 degrees Celsius, surpassing the normal range by 4-6 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has identified several cities and surrounding regions where heatwave conditions are expected to persist from April 23 to April 26. Cities such as Ayodhya, Agra, Aligarh, Azamgarh, Jhansi, Varanasi, Kanpur, Ballia, Gorakhpur, and Prayagraj are likely to experience blistering heatwaves along with temperatures hovering around 40 to 42 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, in the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, clear skies will prevail today, April 23. However, daytime temperatures are expected to rise significantly. It is forecasted that the maximum temperature in Lucknow this week may range between 40 to 42 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature could be around 23 to 25 degrees Celsius. Residents of Lucknow are advised to prepare for hot and dry weather today in the coming days, with the possibility of heatwaves and strong winds persisting. As the heatwave tightens its grip on Uttar Pradesh, residents are urged to take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses, such as staying hydrated, avoiding outdoor activities during peak hours, and seeking shade or air-conditioned environments whenever possible.
